The Mercator Single Blood Bag is used for the collection, preservation and storage of whole human blood. It is a plasticised PVC bag containing anticoagulant solution (CPDA-1). Mercator can off the below specifications:

The Mercator double blood transfusion bag i used to separate and store packed red blood cells and plasma after blood has been centrifuged separating it. It consists of one whole blood bag containing anticoagulant as well as a satellite bag.

CPDA has the official name Anticoagulant Citrate Phosphate Destrose according to USP. This mixture of citric acid, sodium citrate, monobasic sodium phosphate and dextrose is add to sterilized water for injection in order to preserve whole blood cells for up to 21 days.

CPDA-1 has the official name of Anticoagulant Citrate Phosphate Destrose Adenine according to USP, and is used to preserve whole blood cells for up to 35 days. It provides adenine to the red cells which will help maintain their ATP levels.

Anticoagulant Citrate Phosphate Dextrose Adenine Solution (CPDA-1).

Each 100ml CPDA-1 contains: 
Citric Acid (anhydrous) 0.299g
Sodium Citrate (dihydrate) 2.63g
Monobasic Sodium Phosphate (monohydrate) 0.222g
Dextrose (monohydrate) 3.19g
Adenine 0.0275g
Water for injection to 100ml

SAGM stands for Saline Adenine Glucose Mannitol

Anticoagulant Saline Adenine Glucose Mannitol Solution (SAGM).

Each 100ml SAG-M contains:
Sodium Chloride 0.877g.
Adenine 0.0169g.
Dextrose (monohydrate) 0.900g.
Mannitol 0.525g.
Water for injection to 100ml
