Mechanism of Action:
Chloramphenicol is a broad spectrum antibiotic originally isolate from streptomycesvenezuelae.
It is primarily bacteriostatic and acts by inhibition of protein synthesis by interfering with the transfer of active amino acids from soluble RNA to ribosomes It is effectiveagainst a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including most anaerobic organisms.
Chloramphenicol Ear Drops 0.5%: belpharitis, conjunctivitis; dacryocictis and keratitis, trachoma and other infections of the eye caused by bacteria susceptible to Chloramphenicol.
Dosage & Administration:
Chloramphenicol Ear Drops 0. 5%: apply 2 drops to conjunctive sac and/or area, 3 to 6 times daily, at regular intervals
Prolonged or frequent intermittent use of topical chloramphenicol should be avoided because of the possibility of hypersensitivity reactions.
Discard the solution 21 days after opening the bottle.
Store below 25oC preferably between 15oC and 25oC, protect from freezing.
